Every child who ventures outside has been warned that they should be on the lookout for "Hoop Snake", a migrating reptile. The extra-long and powerful snake has the capabilities of creating the perfect 360 degree circle with its body while sitting on the ground. Then, it puts its tail into its mouth to create a living Hula Hoop. And then like magic, it flips on its side and begins the hunt!

Hoop Snake moves at lightning speeds, slicing through cars, trees, and other objects in its path. It chases its victim upand up hills. When I was a kid, I always looked around to be safe from this well-known snake. I didn't see the snake or ever caught by it. My generation was far more advanced than those of previous generations. Nearly every adult who spoke of this snake had either been a victim or had a family member who was shot. It's sad to see youngsters growing older and recognizing that there aren't any Hoop Snakes. Adults would tell their tales with such fear and detail that it was hard for a child to imagine this animal.

It's hard to know how many children received spankings from the people who created the tail due to being tardy for dinner, not following the schedule or for simply slow walking, and gazing out for any place where a Hoop Snake could be lurking, as they made their way to home. It was very confusing for many children from my neighborhood. Now , I can see that there was never will ever be an Hoop Snake. It's an unfortunate fact due to the time I spent as a child. Imagine how much strength it could have if this animal was alive. To be able to turn over onto its back defies the laws of physics as does its ability to swerve through trees and other things while its eyes are looking upwards or downwards and not seeing what is in its path. When I left I scanned every corner. The story is over. There was never any Hoop snake, and there never will ever be.

Next is the unwelcome Milk Snake. It was at the root of children developing brittlebone disease. As a child I was taught to drink my entire milk because there was an rise in the number of Milk Snakes because of the heavy rains. There would be an influx of milk soon. This Milk Snake wasn't related to the real Milk Snake (Lampropeltistriangulum) or in any other way. The snake was all black, long, and large. It was slow and careful, and cows were never in danger. It would grab onto cows ' utterings and not even think about children. Their teeth were certain to fall out, and the snake then consumed the blood of the cow. We were told that farmers would come to the barn at the end of the day to find dust settling on the cow's utter as they attempted to milk it.

Farmers had a bounty and would be willing to pay a huge sum for any milk snake brought to them. Though I never thought about it, could you imagine how big the milk snake would have been to consume three to four gallons of milk in one time? This snake is about 25 feet long and as large as a football. It was difficult to locate a snake of this size however, it was awe-inspiring as was vampires who could consume six liters of water from one human. Nobody ever got the first cent of the reward paid to this milk thief. Sad to say that the milk snake is a legend it never was and never has been, and will never ever. Snakes are lactose-intolerant, so forcing a snake into drinking two ounces of milk could be fatal. Don't be fooled again!

What happened to the "Venomous Bull Snake" is a brand new species of snake? This terrifying creature is the result of a pair of extremely distinct, yet extremely affectionate snakes. They came across one another just a little while ago. The male snake was an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake that came across the Southern Pine snake. They glanced at each other and stars were visible by both. Cupid was shooting arrows everywhere, and they fell madly for one another. Like all married couples (back then) they had a mess of young un. These weren't normal young un. They were snakes that had half of the mother's arsenal of defencive weapons and half of the father's. Summated, the Bull snake, as it was called was one of the dangerous animals you could find in the forest.
