Hoop Snake is a fast reptile that can move at incredible speeds, dodging trees and vehicles. When it's on the trail of its prey, the Hoop Snake can chase its prey through the yard, over the cat, and then up the steps. I remember looking around every corner as a child to make sure I was safe from the familiar snake. Unfortunately I didn't see the Hoop Snake myself and I never met anyone else who was or was chased by it. My generation was more agile than the other generations. Most people who talk about this snake were either victims or had family members who were victimized by one. It is sad to see kids growing older and realizing that there aren't any Hoop Snakes. With such a deep dread that they voiced, adults spoke about the creature with such detail that a kid would not have the opportunity to listen to their stories.
It's difficult to determine the number of children who were slapped from the people who created this tail for being tardy for dinner, not following the schedule or for walking slowly, and looking out for any place where the Hoop Snake could be lurking, when they headed to home. It was a bit confusing for a lot of the kids from my neighborhood. As of now, I'm aware that there has never been or will ever be an Hoop Snake. I am saddened by this, due to my experiences as a child. Imagine the strength it could have if it were actually alive. The ability of this animal to turn on its side defies all physical laws. It also can move around and in between trees with its eyes directed either upwards or downwards, never seeing what lay within the route. When I was out walking looking at every corner I was able to give a little of laughter to a few adults. The story isn't true. I am no Hoop Snake.
Then we come to the dreaded Milk Snake who was responsible for kids acquiring Brittle Bone Disease. As a child I was taught to drink my entire milk because there was an increase in the number of Milk Snakes as a result of the torrential rains. It was likely to be a shortage of milk very soon. This Milk Snake was not related at all to the actual Milk Snake (Lampropeltis Triangulum), a member the King Snake family. This snake was long and large, and all black. It was able to slip into barns beneath the darkness of the night, slow and deliberate the cows never had any chance. It would grasp onto cows' uttersand never considering the children with teeth that were likely to fall out. Then, it would drain the cow dry. According to our sources farmers would visit the barn during breaks during the day to collect dust and milk the cows.
The snake was a sought-after property of farmers, and they would shell out huge sums of money for each one that was called to their attention. I never really considered it, but can you imagine how huge the milk snake would have been to consume three to four gallons of milk in a single time? We are talking twenty-five feet and as wide as the size of a football. It is certain that a snake this big could have been simple to locate, but just like the vampire who was able to drink six tons of blood from just one human, it was magic because no one ever collected the first penny of the rewards offered to this milk thief, not one. The milk snake myth is now an untruth. Snakes are lactose intolerant. Forcing the snake to drink 2 pounds of snake may very well cause its demise. Don't be fooled!
What was the cause? This terrifying creature is the result of two different snake species who came across one another just a few years ago. Male snake was an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake and he encountered a Southern Pine Snake. Stars were seen by both of them and cupid started shooting arrows all over the place. They had a lot of young uns, as did all married couples. These weren't ordinary young people, but snakes that had half the fathers' defensive weaponry and half the mothers. All said and done, the Bull snake was one of the worst animals to find in the woods.
