The Hoop Snake moves at an incredible speed, avoiding trees, cars, and any other obstacles in its way. It is a harrier that chases its victim down through hills and down, along with sets of steps, through the yard, and even over the cat. There is nothing that can stop this ancient reptile from following a young child and their most sought-after prey. As a youngster I was always looking around every corner to insure my safety against this widely recognized snake. I was successful of avoiding it, as I did not encounter one, or even meet a child who saw one or was pursued by one. My generation probably grew more agile than older generations, as nearly everyone who talked about this snake was an innocent victim or knew someone who was stomped by one. It's sad that children become adults and realize there aren't any Hoop Snakes. They were a huge element of the kids' lives. The adults told their stories with such an intense dread in their voice , and they described this animal in detail that a child never got a chance to experience it.
It's difficult to determine how many kids were spanked from the people who created this tail for being late for dinner, for not following the schedule, or simply for taking a long walk, or looking out at any spot where the Hoop Snake could lurk while they walked home. It was a bit difficult for many kids in my old neighborhood. It is now clear that there never was nor will there ever be an Hoop Snake and I'm saddened by this mostly because of the time that I lost in my childhood. What is the strength this animal would have If it existed? The ability of this animal to turn on its back defies the physical laws. It is also able to swerve in and around trees, while its eyes are directed either upwards or downwards and never noticing what is within its way. They were quite amused when I saw them glance around at every corner I passed by. This tale is busted, never was an Hoop Snake, and never will ever be.
We then have the feared Milk Snake. He was responsible for kids developing brittle bones disease. When I was a kid I was told to drink my entire milk since there was an increase in Milk Snakes because of the torrential rains. It was likely to be a shortage of milk very soon. This Milk Snake was not connected to the real Milk Snake (Lampropeltistriangulum) or in any other way. The snake was large and large, and all black. It moved into barns underneath the cloak of darkness, going slowly and carefully the cows never had a chance. It would cling to the cows' utters and never give a thought to the kids whose teeth were sure to fall out , and later get brittle bones. It sucked that poor cow dry. We were informed that farmers would return to the barn at the end of the day to find dust settling on the cow's teeth as they attempted to milk it.
This snake was a prized farm animal and farmers paid huge sums for each snake that was brought to their attention. Although I didn't think about it, can you imagine how big the milk snake had to be to consume three to four five gallons of milk in one time? They can be seen at twenty-five ft and are as big as a football. It would have been difficult to find a snake this big, but it was magical, just like the vampire that could consume six liters of water from one human. Nobody ever got the first penny of the bounty's given to the milk thieves. It's sad to say that the myth about the milk snake is now discredited. Snakes are actually lactose intolerant. Forcing the snake to drink two inches of snake water could possibly cause its demise. I was fooled once again!

Male was an Eastern Diamondback rat snake who encountered an Southern Pine snake. After just a glance, stars were spotted by both. Cupid was shooting arrows all over the place and both fell madly in love. The couple was a group of young uns like most married couples. These were not ordinary young uns but snakes with half the fathers' defensive weapons and half of the mothers. In the end, the Bull snake as it was known was a terrible animal to cross in the forest.
