We were told that farmers would come to the barn at time breaks to discover dust settling on the cow's utter as they attempted to milk it.
Farmers would be rewarded with a bounty, and would be willing to pay a huge sum for any milk snake brought to them. Although it was not something I had thought of I can only imagine how big a milk snake could have been to consume up to 4 gallons milk every time. It would have been difficult to find a snake this large, but it was magical similar to vampires who could consume six liters of water from one human. The only person who ever took home the first dollar of all the money paid to this milk theft thief. The milk snake myth is now a fable.
