Imagine the strength it could be if the animal were actually alive. Being able to turn over onto its back defies the laws of physics as can its ability to turn between trees and other objects with its eyes looking either down or up and not noticing what lay in its path. I'm pretty sure I provided lots of laughter to some adults as they watched me look around at every corner I passed. This story has been discredited.
We then have the feared Milk Snake. He was responsible for children developing Brittle bones disease. As a child I was told to drink my entire milk because of an rise in the number of Milk Snakes brought on by heavy rains. This meant there would soon be a shortage. This Milk Snake was not related to the real milk snake, which is a part of the King Snake family, (Lampropeltis triangulum) and was not even remotely. The snake was large and black, and would sneak into barns beneath an eerie cloth. The snake moved slow and deliberatey, so it didn't have a chance. It would latch onto the cow's utters, not considering the children who's teeth could fall out. Then it would wash the cow dry. According to our sources farmers used to visit the barn during breaks in the day to gather dust and milk the cows.
Farmers would be rewarded with a bounty, and would offer huge sums of money for any milk snake that was brought to them. I've never thought about it but can you imagine how huge the milk snake would have been to consume up to four gallons of milk at a single moment? They can be seen at 25 feet and are as big as the size of a football. While a snake of this size would be extremely difficult to locate however, it's not impossible to catch. Sad to say that the milk snake is a legend and never has been, never will ever. Snakes are lactose intolerant. Forcing the snake to drink two ounces of snake could very well cause its demise. Don't fall for the myths!
