It would be safe to say, each child who has ventured out of doors at one time or another is instructed to keep an eye pealed for any of these magnificent creatures, lest you be another victim who fell prey to a mi-rooding reptile referred to as the "Hoop Snake". The long and strong snake can make an ideal 360-degree circle around its body while it's lying on its back. The snake then grabs its tail and creates a living Hula Hoop by putting it inside its mouth.

Hoop Snake speeds at lightning speed, darting cars, trees, and other objects along its path, and pursues its victim upand through hills. As a kid, I looked around every corner to ensure that I was protected from this snake. But, I did not get to see or meet any other child who was caught or was a victim due to it. My generation was much faster than other generations. Most adults who have heard of this snake were victims themselves or had family members who were victimized by one. It's very sad when children are aware that Hoop Snakes do not exist. Adults told their tales with such a fearful tone in their voice and the animal was described in such detail, a child would never have had the chance.

There is no telling the number of kids who received a spanking by the originators of this tail for being late for dinner or not arriving on time because they were slow walking taking in every location in the distance where a Hoop Snake might be waiting in the waiting area, they were walking to home. It was quite confusing for many of my children from my neighborhood. Now I realize there has never been nor will there ever be a Hoop Snake and I am saddened by this most likely due to the years lost during my child hood. Imagine the strength it could have had this animal been real? Flipping up on its side defies the laws. The animal's ability to maneuver between trees and things is an impressive feat of strength. They were quite amused as I watched them look around every corner that I went to. The story I told you about isn't real. I am not a Hoop Snake.

The dreaded Milk Snake is next. It was the reason for children suffering from bone diseases that are brittle. As a youngster, I was warned to drink all the milk. Due to the increase in the quantity of Milk Snakes that occur during severe rains, there would likely be a shortage of milk soon. The Milk Snake was not associated with the real milk snake (Lampropeltistriangulum), but it was part of the King Snake family. The large, fat snake was completely black and moved in slow and deliberate ways, making it difficult for cows to avoid. It would grasp onto cows' utters, never thinking of the children whose teeth were likely to fall out. Then, it would drain the cow dry. According to our sources, farmers would visit the barn during breaks in the day to collect dust and milk the cows.

A bounty was set up by some farmers for each milk snake that they brought in. It was something I had previously not considered, however it's amazing to consider how big the milk snake would have had to be to drink up to 4 gallons at a time. These snakes can be seen at twenty-five ft and can be as large as a football. Although a snake of this size might have been very difficult to catch, it is not impossible to catch. It's sad to say that the milk serpent is a legend. It has never been ever been and isn't likely to be. Snakes are lactose intolerant, so forcing the animals to drink two ounces could result in their death. Fooled again!

What has happened to the "Venomous Bull Snake" that is an entirely new species of snake? The frightful creature is the result of two totally different types of snakes who both happened to be amorous. The male snake was an Eastern Diamondback snake that happened to come across the Southern Pine serpent. Both were looking at each other, the stars were spotted by both and cupid began shooting arrows all around. As all married couples, they had a lot of young women. These were not normal young people. They were snakes with half of the mother's arsenal of defencive weapons and half of the father's. When all was said and done the Bull snake was one of the most dangerous animals you could find in the woods.
