Hoop Snake is a speedy reptile that rolls at great speeds, avoiding trees and cars. When it's on the trail of their prey, the Hoop Snake will chase the victim around the yard, over the cat, and then up the steps. When I was a kid, I always was looking around to protect myself from this famous snake. I didn't see the snake or ever pursued by it. My generation probably was more agile than those of the past since the majority of adults who spoke about the creature were either victims or relatives who had been attacked by a Hoop Snake. It's sad when children grow up and realize they don't have Hoop Snakes, It played an important role in the majority of kids lives. It was a sad awakening for kids to realize that Hoop Snakes are not real.
It's impossible to determine the exact number of children who were punished by the people who created this wagging tail for being tardy for dinner or not being on-time. This was extremely complicated for a lot of kids in my old neighborhood. It is now clear that there never was or will ever be ever a Hoop Snake. It is in part due to my early years. Can you just imagine the strength that it could possess were this creature real? It is amazing to be able to flip on its side, defying the laws of physical physics. It also has the ability to steer into and out of trees and other objects. While its eyes are constantly looking down or up, it never sees what Lay is in its direction. They were a bit amused watching them glance around at every corner I went to. This tale has been dismissed.
The dreaded Milk Snake is next. It is the cause of children suffering from brittle bone disease. When I was a child I was advised to drink my entire milk since there was an increase of Milk Snakes due to the rainy season and there would have a shortage of milk shortly. The Milk Snake was not in any way related to the actual Milk Snake, which is a member of King Snake Family (Lampropeltistriangulum). The snake was massive and all-black and would slip into barns under a blanket of darkness. The cows wouldn't be capable of stopping it from moving slowly and intentionally. It would grasp onto cows' utters, never considering the children whose teeth were likely to fall out. After that it would wash the cow dry. It was reported that farmers would visit the barn in the morning to dust the cows while they tried to milk them.
The snake was a sought-after possession of farmers and they paid huge sums for each snake that was at their notice. I've never considered it before, but can you think of how big a milk snake could have gotten to eat up to four gallons in one sitting? These snakes can be seen at twenty-five ft and can be as large as the size of a football. It is certain that a snake this big would have been easy to locate, but just like the vampire that was able to drink six tons of blood from one human victim, it was magic because no one ever got the first cent of the money offered to this milk thief, not one. Again sad to say the milk snake is not real and never has been, never has been, and will never ever. Snakes are lactose intolerant, which means that forcing a snake to drinking two ounces of milk can be fatal. Fooled again!
