Hoop Snake is a swift reptile that can move at incredible speeds, avoiding cars and trees. When it's on path of their prey the Hoop Snake will chase its prey through the yard, over the cat, and then up the steps. I can recall looking around every corner as a child to make sure I was safe from the familiar snake. But I did not see it myself and I never met another kid who was either or was chased by the Hoop Snake. My generation was more advanced than those of previous generations. Nearly every adult who was a fan of the snake had either been victimized or had a family member who was killed. It's sad when kids learn that Hoop Snakes don't exist. Children wouldn't have the chance to encounter this creature if they didn't hear it from their parents.
It's hard to tell the exact number of children who were punished by the creators of this tail because they were late for dinner or not being punctual. It was confusing for many youngsters in my community. I can honestly tell you. Now I see that there never was or is not going to be the existence of a Hoop Snake. It's tragic because of the years I lost when I was a kid. Can you even imagine the strength the animal would possess should it be real? The flipping of its back over the top of its head is an outright violation of law. The animal's ability to navigate between trees and obstacles is a feat of strength. When I was out walking taking in every turn and nook, I gave a smidge of a laugh to a couple of adults. This story has been dismissed.
Then we come to the dreaded Milk Snake who was responsible for children developing brittle bone disease. As a kid I was instructed to drink my entire milk as there had been an increase in the number of Milk Snakes due to the torrential rains, and there was sure to be a shortage of milk fairly shortly. The Milk Snake was not connected in any way to the real Milk Snake and is a member of King Snake Family (Lampropeltistriangulum). The snake was large and black, and was able to sneak into barns, hiding under an eerie cover. It moved swiftly and deliberatey, so it didn't have any chance. It would grab the cows words, and then move ahead to sucking the cow dry. We were informed that farmers would go to the barn after a day break to find dust settling on the cow's utter as they attempted to milk it.
The reward was paid out by farmers who would pay a lot of money for every milk snake brought into their farms. Although it was not something I was thinking about Imagine how huge the milk snake must be to consume up to 4 gallons of milk per sitting. The snake is around twenty-five feet long and as large as a football. It is obvious that a snake of that size would have been easy to locate. However, just like the vampire who could consume six liters of blood from a single person it was pure magical. Nobody ever got the first dollar of the bounty that was offered to this milk thief. The legend of the milk snake is no more. Snakes are lactose intolerant, so forcing them to drink two ounces could result in their death. Don't fall for the myths.
