It was quite confusing for many of the kids from my old neighborhood. As of now, I'm aware that there has never been or will ever be a Hoop Snake. I'm devastated by this due to all the times I was an infant. Do you think of the strength the animal would possess if it was real? Being able to turn over onto its side defies the laws of physics, as can its ability to turn in and out of trees and other things with its eyes looking either down or up and not noticing what lay across its path. They seemed a little amused as I watched them look around every corner I passed by. This story is finished. There was never any Hoop snake and never will be.
Next is the unwelcomed Milk Snake. It was the reason for children to develop brittlebone disease. As a youngster I was instructed to drink all my milk since there was an increase of Milk Snakes as a result of the torrential rains, and there was likely to have a shortage of milk in the near future. This Milk Snake was not related to the actual milk snake, one of the members of the King Snake family, (Lampropeltis triangulum) but not in any way. The snake was huge and all-black and would slip into barns, hiding under a cover of darkness. The cows wouldn't be able to stop it from moving slowly and intentionally. It would cling to cows utterings, and never even think about children. Their teeth were sure to be sucked out, and it then consumed the blood of the cow. We were told that farmers would come to the barn at day break to find dust on the cows' mouths as they tried to milk it.
The bounty was paid out by farmers who would pay a lot of money per milk snake brought to their farm. I've never thought of it before, but can you think of how large a milk snake would have become to consume up to four gallons in a single sitting? This snake is about twenty-five feet long and as large as the size of a football. It would have been difficult to find a snake this big however, it was awe-inspiring, just like the vampire who could consume six liters of water from one human. Nobody ever got the first cent of the bounty's offered to this milk theft thief. Sad to say, the milk serpent is a legend. It's never ever been a reality and it will never be again. Snakes are lactose intolerant, so forcing a snake into drinking two ounces of milk can be fatal. Don't be fooled!
