It is safe to say, every child who went out into the outdoors at one time or another is instructed to keep an eye pealed for any of these magnificent animals, less you become another victim who fell prey to a mi-rooding reptile referred to as the "Hoop Snake". The snake's larger size permits it to create an entire 360 degree circle while lying on the ground. Then it takes its tail and puts it into its mouth to form a living Hula-Hoop. Like magic, it flips up onto its back and the chase is going on!

Hoop Snake speeds at lightning speed, darting cars, trees, and other objects in its path. Then, it chases its victims up, into hills. I remember looking around every corner to make sure my safety against this familiar snake. However, I never saw the Hoop Snake myself or met any other child who was or was chased by the Hoop Snake. My generation was likely faster than those of the past because the majority of people who spoke about the creature were victims or had relatives of those who were victimized by the Hoop Snake. It's sad to see kids growing older and realizing that there aren't any Hoop Snakes. It was a sad discovery for children to discover that Hoop Snakes are not real.

There is no telling how many children received a slap from the makers of this tail because they were late for supper or for not being on time simply because they were slow walking and were looking around at every place in the distance, where a Hoop Snake could be waiting to wait for them, while on their way to their home. It was quite confusing for many of the children in my old neighborhood. I have come to realize that there was never an Hoop Snake which is mainly because of the lost time during my early years. Imagine the strength it would have if it were alive. Flipping up on its side over the top of its head is an outright violation of law. The animal's ability to maneuver between trees and things is a feat of strength. As I left I scanned every corner. The story has been dismissed.

The next one is the scary Milk Snake, who caused the condition known as brittlebone in children. As a child, I was advised to drink my whole milk because of the increase in Milk Snakes caused by heavy rains. This meant there would soon be a shortage. The Milk Snake wasn't associated with a real milk snake (Lampropeltistriangulum), but it was part of the King Snake family. The long, fat snake was completely black and moved in slow and deliberate manners, making it hard for cows to avoid. It would take the cow's words, and then move further to suck the cow dry. It was our understanding that the barn would be visited by farmers at day break, who would leave behind dust as the cows uttered while they milked them.

Farmers had a bounty and would offer huge sums of money for any milk snake that was brought to them. While it wasn't something I had thought of I can only imagine how big a milk snake would have been to drink up to 4 gallons milk every time. We're talking about 25 feet and as wide as footballs. Although a snake of this size would be very difficult to catch however, it's not impossible to capture. It is sad to report that the myth about the milk snake has been debunked. Snakes are lactose-intolerant so forcing them to drink 2 ounces of water could lead to their demise. I was fooled once again!

What did happen to the "Venomous Bull Snake", a brand-new species of snake? This terrifying creature is the result of two divergent and amorous snakes who happened to meet one another a while back. The male was an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake who came upon a Southern Pine snake, they were both looking at one another, stars were seen by both and the cupids began shooting arrows everywhere and they were in love with the another. Like every married couple (back the day) they were a mess of young un. They were not ordinary young people however, they were snakes with half of the father's defencive weapons as well as half of the mothers. Totaled up to the Bull snake, as it was named was one bad animal to run across in the forest.
