It would latch onto the cows' utter and not give an thought to the children whose teeth were sure to fall out and then develop brittle bones, and it forced the poor cow to drink dry. It was said that farmers would go to the barn during the day to scatter dust on the cows while they tried to milk them.
Certain farmers had a bounty on this snake and would pay big bucks for every milk snake that was delivered to them. I've never considered it, but can you imagine how huge the milk snake must have been to consume three to four gallons of milk in one time? The snake is approximately twenty-five feet in length and is as large as a football. It would have been difficult to find a snake this big and powerful, but it was truly magical, just like the vampire that could consume six liters of water from one human victim. No one ever received the first dollar of all the money offered to this milk theft thief. It's sad to announce that the myth about the milk snake has been debunked. Snakes are lactose intolerant, so forcing the animals to drink two ounces could cause their death. Beware of the myths!
