I never did get to encounter one, or even meet a child who witnessed one or was chased by one. My generation probably was more agile than previous generations because almost all adults who spoke about the creature were either victims or relatives who were stomped on by Hoop Snakes. Hoop Snake. It's very sad when children learn that Hoop Snakes don't exist. It was a sad awakening for kids to realize that Hoop Snakes were not real.
It's impossible to determine how many children were spanked by the creators of this wagging tail for being late for dinner or for not getting there on time. It was quite confusing for a lot of children in my area. I can honestly tell that you. Today, I am aware that there's never been and will ever be a Hoop Snake. I'm saddened by this because of all my experiences as an infant. What is the strength the animal would possess if it was real? Flipping up on its side over the top of its head is an outright violation of law. The ability of the animal to navigate between trees and other obstacles is an impressive feat of strength. I'm sure I brought lots of laughter to some adults who looked at me from every corner I walked by. The story is over. There was never an Hoop snake, and there never will be.
The fearsome Milk Snake is next. It was the reason for children developing bone diseases that are brittle. As a child, I was warned to drink all the milk. Due to the increased amount of Milk Snakes during severe rains, there would likely be a shortage of milk soon. The Milk Snake wasn't related to the real milk snake, a member of the King Snake family, (Lampropeltis triangulum), not at all. This snake was fat and black and could sneak into barns under a dark cloth. It moved slowly and deliberatey, so it didn't have a chance. It would grab cows' utters and not think about the children whose teeth would eventually disappear. The snake would then take the cow dry. We were informed that farmers would go to the barn during time breaks to discover dust settling on the cow's mouths as they tried to milk it.
Some farmers were able to offer a reward for the snake and would pay huge sums for each milk snake that was delivered to them. I never really thought about it but can you imagine how large the milk snake would be to have consumed up to four gallons of milk in one time? It can reach twenty-five foot and is as tall like a football. It's evident that a snake this large could have been simple to locate. However, just like the vampire who could consume six liters of blood from one individual it was pure magical. No one ever received the first penny of the bounty that was offered to the milk thief. Sad to say that the milk snake is not real and never has been, ever will be. Snakes are lactose-intolerant so forcing the animals to drink two ounces could cause their death. I was fooled once again!
What happened to the new species of snake known as the "Venomous Bull Snake"? This terrifying snake was created by two different snake species who stumbled upon each other a couple of years ago.
