Now I realize there has never been nor will there ever be an Hoop Snake and I am devastated most likely due to the years lost during my child hood. Can you even imagine the strength this creature could have in the event that it existed? The ability of this animal to turn on its side defies all laws of physics. It is also able to turn around and through trees with its eyes focused either downward or upward but never looking at what lies within the way. I'm pretty sure I provided plenty of laughs for some adults who observed me looking around at every turn I went by. This story has been discredited.
Then, we come to the fearsome Milk Snake. He was responsible for kids developing Brittle bones disease. When I was a child I was advised to drink my entire milk because there has been an increase in Milk Snakes as a result of the torrential rains, and there was likely to be a shortage of milk fairly soon. The Milk Snake was not in any way related to the real Milk Snake and is a member of King Snake Family (Lampropeltistriangulum). The snake was massive and black, and would slide into barns underneath a cloak of darkness. The cows wouldn't be able to stop it from moving slowly and deliberately. It would grab onto cows utterings, and never give a thought about children. Their teeth were certain to be sucked out, and the snake then took the cow's blood. We were told that farmers would come to the barn after a time breaks to discover dust on the cows' utter as they attempted to milk it.
The snake was a sought-after possession of farmers and they would shell out huge sums of money for each one brought to their attention. While I wasn't thinking about it, can you imagine the size of the milk snake had to be to have consumed three or four five gallons of milk in a single sitting? They can be seen at 25 feet and are the size of a football. While a snake of this size would have been extremely difficult to locate, it is not impossible to catch. The milk snake myth is now a fable. Snakes are lactose-intolerant so forcing them to drink two ounces could lead to their demise. Beware!
