Hoop Snake is a swift reptile that can move at incredible speeds, dodging trees and vehicles. If it's on the trail of their prey, the Hoop Snake can chase the victim around the yard, around the cat, and then up the steps. When I was a kid I was always looking around every turn to ensure my safety against this well recognized snake. I did a good job of avoiding it, as I never did get to see one, or meet another kid who either encountered one or was pursued by one. My generation was likely faster than previous generations because the majority of people who discussed this animal were either victims or relatives who were stomped on by the Hoop Snake. It's sad for kids to learn that Hoop Snakes have gone extinct. Children will never get the chance to see the animal if they didn't hear it from their parents.
It's hard to know how many kids were spanked from the people who created this tail because they were tardy for dinner, not following the schedule or for walking slowly, and looking at every possible spot a Hoop Snake could be lurking, when they headed back home. It was quite confusing for many of the kids from my former neighborhood. Today, I am aware that there has never been nor will there ever be an Hoop Snake and I'm saddened by this most likely due to the years that I lost in my childhood. What is the strength that this animal could possess should it be real? The ability to flip up onto its back is a defiance to the laws of physics as do its ability to spin in and out of trees and other obstacles as its eyes look either down or up and not noticing what lay on the ground. I'm pretty sure I provided a lot of laughter for a few adults as they watched me look around at every corner I passed. The story isn't true. I'm not a Hoop Snake.
Next up is the scary Milk Snake, who caused the brittlebone disorder in children. As a youngster I was told to drink all the milk. Due to the increased number of Milk Snakes in rainy seasons, there will likely be the possibility of a shortage of milk in the near future. It would take the cow's' words and go further to suck the cow dry. Based on our research farmers would visit the barn during breaks in the day to collect dust and milk the cows.
Some farmers offered a bounty to this snake , and would offer large sums of money for every milk snake brought to them. It was something I had not thought of, but it's amazing to consider how large the milk serpent was to consume up to 4 gallons at a time. The snake is around twenty-five feet in length and is as large as a football. It's evident that a snake this large would have been easy for someone to find. But, as with the vampire that was able to consume six liters of blood from a single person it was a feat of magical. Nobody ever got the first dollar of the bounty that was offered to the milk thief. It is sad to report that the myth of the milk snake has been discredited. Snakes are lactose intolerant, so forcing them to drink 2 ounces of water could result in their death. Beware!
