It was a very stressful moment for a lot of children in my old neighborhood, I can tell you this with complete sincerity. As of now, I'm aware that there's never been nor will ever be a Hoop Snake. I'm saddened by this, due to the time I spent as an infant. Imagine how much strength it would be if the animal were actually alive. Turning over on its back defies the laws. The animal's ability to move between trees and objects is a feat of strength. I think I did provide a lot of laughter for some adults who observed me looking around at every corner I passed. The story is over. There has never been any Hoop snake and never will be.
The next one is the scary Milk Snake, who caused brittlebone disease in children. As a child I was taught to drink my entire milk since there was an increase in Milk Snakes because of the rains that were heavy. There was the shortage of milk soon. It's sad to say that the myth about the milk snake is now discredited. Snakes are lactose-intolerant so forcing the animals to drink two ounces could cause their death. Beware!
