Every child who goes outdoors is advised to be alert for the "Hoop Snake" an invasive reptile. The long, muscular snake can form the perfect 360° circle using its body while on the ground. The snake puts its tail and puts it in its mouth, and creates a living Hula Hoop. Like magic, it then flips to the side and is off!

The Hoop Snake moves at a staggering speed, staying clear of trees or cars and other objects in its path. It is a harrier that chases its victim down up and down hills and down hills, as well as sets of steps, through the yard, and even over the cat. It is impossible to stop the snake from following a young child who is their preferred prey. I can recall looking around every corner to make sure I was safe from this familiar snake. Unfortunately I didn't see the Hoop Snake myself or met anyone else who was or was chased by it. My generation probably was more agile than previous generations since the majority of adults who spoke about the creature were victims or had relatives of those who were victimized by a Hoop Snake. It's a bit sad for children to learn that Hoop Snakes are now extinct. Adults shared their stories with so much anxiety and detail that it was hard for a child to envision the creature.

It's hard to know how many children received spankings by the creators of this tail because they were late for supper, for not keeping their schedules or for simply taking a long walk, or looking out at any spot where the Hoop Snake could be lurking, while they walked back home. It was a confusing period for a lot of children in my neighborhood. Now I see that there never was or ever will be an Hoop Snake. It's an unfortunate fact due to the years I lost when I was a kid. What is the strength that this creature could have should it be real? The ability to turn on its back is an inflict of defiance to the physical laws. It can also maneuver in and out trees while its eyes look either down or forward. I'm sure I brought a lot of laughter for some adults who looked at me from every turn I went by. This tale is not true. I am not a Hoop Snake.

The next one is the scary Milk Snake, who caused the condition known as brittlebone in children. As a youngster I was advised to drink my entire milk as there had been an increase of Milk Snakes due to the rainy season and there was likely to be a milk shortage fairly soon. This Milk Snake wasn't associated with the actual Milk Snake (Lampropeltistriangulum) or in any other way. The fat, long snake was completely black and moved in slow and deliberate manners, making it hard for cows to avoid. It would grab cows' utters and not give a damn about the children's teeth that would eventually fall out. The snake then sucked the cow dry. It was said that farmers would come to the barn during the day to dust the cows as they tried to milk them.

This snake was a prized property of farmers, and they would pay huge amounts for each one at their notice. I've never considered it but can you picture how large a milk snake could have gotten to eat up to four gallons in one sitting? The snake could grow up to twenty-five feet in length and be as large as a football. It would have been difficult to find a snake this large, but it was magical as was vampires who could consume six liters of water from one human. Nobody ever got the first dollar of all the bounty's paid to this milk thieves. The milk snake myth has become a fable. Snakes are lactose intolerant, and forcing a snake to drink two inches of snake water could well cause its demise. Don't fall for it!

What was the fate of the new species of snake called the "Venomous Bull Snake"? The frightful creature is the result of two very amorous and distinct species of snakes that happened to each other short time back. Male snake was an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake and he was able to see the female a Southern Pine Snake. Stars were seen by both the snakes and cupid began shooting arrows all over the place. The couple had a number of young uns like most married couples. They were not your typical young adults. They had half the weapons used by their fathers and half that of their mothers. The Bull snake or the Bull snake, as it was known, was one of the most deadly animals you might encounter in the forests.
