At incredible speeds, it flies through the air, avoiding trees, cars and other objects that comes in its way and slicing through the air, the ferocious Hoop Snake chases its victim down upwards, down hills, up sets of steps, through the yard and over the local cat but nothing can stop this ancient reptile when it is on the path of a child, their preferred prey. I can recall looking around every corner to make sure I was safe from this familiar snake. Unfortunately, I never saw it myself or met another kid who was either or was chased by the Hoop Snake. My generation probably was more agile than older generations, as nearly every adult who was able to talk about the snake was either an innocent victim or had a family member who was hit by one. It is sad to see kids growing older and realizing that there aren't Hoop Snakes. The adults told their stories with such fear in their voice and detailed the creature in such detail, that a child would never have had the chance.
No one knows the number of children who were slapped by the originators. It was quite confusing for a lot of children in my area. I can assure that you. As of now, I'm aware that there's never been and will ever be a Hoop Snake. I'm saddened by this, due to my experiences as growing up. Can you just imagine the strength it could have were this creature real? Its ability to turn its back is a defiance to all physical laws. It also can move around and in between trees with its eyes focused either downward or upward, never seeing what lay on the other side of its way. So I must have provided a few adults with a bit of laughter as I walked off, looking around every corner I came to. This tale is over. There was never an Hoop snake and it will never be.
The fearsome Milk Snake is next. It was the reason for children being diagnosed with bone diseases that are brittle. I was taught in my childhood to drink all my milk as there was an increase in Milk Snakes resulting from the torrential rains. It was expected that there will be a shortage soon. The Milk Snake was not closely related to the real milk snake (Lampropeltistriangulum), but it was part of the King Snake family. The snake was long and fat, all black and was able to slip into barns beneath the cover of darkness moving along slowly and deliberately, a cow never stood any chance. It would grab onto cows utterings, and never think about children. Their teeth were bound to be sucked out, and then it consumed the blood of the cow. We were told that farmers would come to the barn at the end of the day to find dust leaving the cows teeth as they attempted to milk it.
Certain farmers were able to offer a reward for this snake and would pay huge sums for each milk snake that was brought to them. I never really thought about it , but can you imagine how huge the milk snake would have been to consume up to four gallons of milk in a single sitting? The snakes are visible at twenty-five ft and are as big as a football. It's evident that a snake this large would have been easy to locate. But, as with the vampire who could drink six liters blood from one person it was pure amazing. Nobody ever got the first penny of any bounty offered for the milk thieves. The legend of the milk snake is no more. Snakes are actually lactose intolerant, and forcing the snake to drink 2 ounces of snake could very possibly cause its demise. Don't fall for the myths!
What ever happened the new species of snake called "Venomous Bull Snake?" The frightful animal is the result of two divergent and amorous snakes who met in the past. The male was a Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake who came upon a Southern Pine snake, they glanced at one and other, stars were seen by both and cupid started shooting arrows across the entire area and they were in love with one and another. As with all married couples they had plenty of young women. These were not ordinary young people, but snakes that had half the fathers' defensive weaponry , and half of the mothers. In all fairness, the Bull Snake, as it was called was one of most unpleasant animals to encounter within the forest.
